Smooth Sailing

We are planing down the gain on the starboard side, getting ready for plank #4. On the port side, we are using a spoke-shave to plane down the land.
After we glued Plank #4 on, we used a hand sander and an electric sander to smooth the hull of the boat.
We are sanding down the plank to remove the high spots and prepping for filleting.
In order to feel for the high spots on the planks, we closed our eyes and used our sense of touch.
We are filleting the boat with epoxy using a Popsicle stick. We do this to reinforce the glue joints.

Getting things done!

We held a big fundraiser here and our first skiff  "Mighty Oak" was a showpiece.  We made a community rowing sign on the CNC machine.
We glued plank #4.

We clamped the plank into place after spreading epoxy in order for it to cure. Once it is clamped into place we had to scrape up the squeeze out.

The next step will be to add plank #4 on the starboard side. In this photo you can see that we have cut out two of the oars for the boat using the band saw. On the port side of the boat you can see plank #5 ready to be applied.
